The 2017 school year is over, and what a year it has been for the Chaplain team. We have enjoyed a year full of events and fun. The year started off with welcoming a new member to our team, Pastor Monique Walsh. Having another person to help meant that we could expand what we do as chaplains. We have always felt that as Chaplains at Prescott College Southern that we are not just chaplains for the Students and Staff, but also their families as well. This conviction led us to think up ways we could make this known to the wider school community. After lots of brainstorming, we came up with the idea that we would visit all the new student’s families by driving over to their houses with a small gift welcoming them to the Prescott community. We would like to say thanks to all the families that welcomed our unannounced visit.
An awesome part of our jobs as chaplains is that we get to hang out with students in a variety of settings. We get to do this in classes, during Bible Studies, recess and lunchtime and best of all, at camps. Sadly this year Pastor Travis S, or ‘Big T’ as he is affectionately known, was not able to go on camps this year due to having knee surgery. Pastor Monique and I still had a great time connecting with students and staff on school camps. Pastor Monique attended the Year 4 and Year 7 camps, while I got to hang out with the Year 5’s and Year 10’s.
Sadly, we have to say goodbye to Big T and Pastor Monique who won’t be here as chaplains next year. We have been so lucky to have these two great chaplains. Even with them going, in the years to come, I’m sure as a school community we will continue to create great memories together as we share the Love that God has for us. “God loved the people of this world so much that he gave his only Son so that everyone who has faith in him will have eternal life and never really die.” John 3:16 CEV.
